Abstract

Birds are one of the natural resources that play an important role in human life in various fields of life, besides that birds also play a role in the ecosystem, which can repair forests naturally. The existence of birds is inseparable from the diversity of vegetation as a habitat for carrying out life such as laying eggs, looking for food and protecting themselves from prey. Bird habitat can be found in the NagariPulakek Koto Baru Forest, Sungai Pagu District, SouthSolok Regency. This study aims to determine the species of birds, the level of diversity, and the level of similarity of species found in the NagariPulakek Koto Baru Forest. The method used is the path method combined with a point count. The path determination was carried out by purposive sampling, which made 2 lanes in each area with a length of 2000 m, each lane consisting of 10 observation points with a distance of 200 m. Based on the results of the study found 75 species from 30 families, 10 species of which are protected. The bird diversity index value is 3.11 in the HPT area and 3.85 in the HL area. From the two types of areas, a bird similarity index of 23% is obtained, which means the level of similarity is low or different types of birds.
